He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Ellis and Alice Ellis (Frye); his wife Beverly Jean Wilder; his brother Robert; and his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ellis, Doris Baldwin [Price], Edna Buckley [Edward], Betty Ellis and Susan Ellis [Donald].

He is survived by: his children, Sally L. Stuart and James A. Ellis [Sheila]; his brother Donald Ellis; and his grandchildren, Adam [Mary] Ellis, Sarah Ellis [Bill Dwyer], Mary Bartholoma [Nicholas], Jason Stuart, Stephanie Reed and Matthew E. Edwards. He is also survived by great-great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a donation in his memory to the charity of their choice.
