He was predeceased by: his parents, Assunta LaPorta and Clemente LaPorta; his brothers, Frank, Alphonso and Joseph; and his son John Vincent.

He is survived by: his children, Mary Trainor (Matthew), Margaret Allen (Christopher), Anne Young (Anthony), Karen Pedrick (Terry), Andrew LaPorta (Sarah) and Brian LaPorta (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Séamus, Cíana Trainor, Adam, Isabella Allen, Thomas Young, Caleb, Logan, Jake Pedrick, Miles LaPorta and Christian LaPorta; his wife Jean Frances (Aurelia); and his brother Ralph LaPorta. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and first and second cousins.
