He was predeceased by : his parents, John Vincent and Mildred Sherlock (Range); his stepfather John Zawaski; and his pet Atlas. He is survived by : his children, Steven Sherlock (Catherine) and Tricia Sherlock (Darren Rea); his grandchildren, Carlin, Aiden Rea, Samuel and Kate Sherlock; his stepmother Mildred Carr; and his siblings, Cynthia Leese, Vincent Sherlock and Ann Daly.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home (82 S Church St, Goshen, NY 10924). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist RC Church (71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY 10924). A burial was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at the St John's Cemetery West Main.

In lieu of flowers John's family is requesting memorial donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House https://donor.rmh-newyork.org, of which John was a lifelong, donor and supporter.
