He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Slater and Herbert Slater; and his son James H. Slater Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Mary Blaisdell Slater; his children, Melissa Slater, Jessica Slater-Mejia (Jose), Katie Slater, Scott Slater (Shelley), April Slater (Willis) and Jennifer Slater; his grandchildren, Emily, Makayla, Connor, Casandra, Tyler, Selena, Hunter, Alyssa, Marissa, Jazmine, Isabella, Natalie, Makenzie, Brooke, Karter Julianna and Raelyn; his great grandchildren, Olivia and Harper; and his siblings, Jeanine Slater (Henry), Gerri Raymond (David), Joyce Jones, Joseph Slater and Kathy Willis (Winfield). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
