James Slater Obituary
We bid farewell to James Slater (Groton, New York), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on July 11, 2025 at the age of 69. James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Slater and Herbert Slater; and his son James H. Slater Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Mary Blaisdell Slater; his children, Melissa Slater, Jessica Slater-Mejia (Jose), Katie Slater, Scott Slater (Shelley), April Slater (Willis) and Jennifer Slater; his grandchildren, Emily, Makayla, Connor, Casandra, Tyler, Selena, Hunter, Alyssa, Marissa, Jazmine, Isabella, Natalie, Makenzie, Brooke, Karter Julianna and Raelyn; his great grandchildren, Olivia and Harper; and his siblings, Jeanine Slater (Henry), Gerri Raymond (David), Joyce Jones, Joseph Slater and Kathy Willis (Winfield). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Zirbel Funeral Home (115 Williams St, Groton, NY 13073). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
