He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Ditmars Holmes and Alice Caslick Holmes (Caslick); and his sister Joyce Holmes McAllister (John J.). He is survived by: his wife Dr. Dorothy F. Holmes (Nielsen); his children, Barbara E. Holmes of Phoenix, AZ, Stephen W. Holmes of Groton, NY and Cynthia J. Holmes; his son-in-law Robert D. Williams of Los Angeles; his son William T. Holmes; his daughter-in-law Christine Holmes (Monchamp) of Groton, NY; and his grandchildren, Emilie Holmes of Dallas, TX, Camille Holmes of Los Angeles, CA, Robert, Ryan and Brett Williams of Los Angeles, CA..
