With sadness, we share the passing of Joan E. Steitz of Hague, New York. Joan, born on June 9, 1938, passed away on October 30, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell Fenimore and Nora Fenimore (Comparato); her son Daniel Steitz; her daughter-in-law Carol Steitz; and her siblings, John Fenimore, Robert Fenimore and Dorothy Dugay.
She is survived by: her husband Arthur Y. Steitz; her sons, Mark Steitz (Janet) of New Jersey and David Steitz (Susan) of Florida; her daughter-in-law Connie Steitz of Ticonderoga; her grandchildren, Mark Steitz, Jr. (Kerry), Adam Steitz (Erica), Megan Steitz (Bruce) and Daniel Steitz, Jr. (Rachel); and her brothers, Charles Fenimore, Russell Fenimore, Jr. and Louis Fenimore. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Hague Baptist Church (9830 Graphite Mountain Rd, Hague, NY 12836).
