He is survived by: his wife Sandra I. Vella; his children, Jennifer Olson, Joseph Vella (Jenna) and Jessica Vella (Donald McArdle III); his grandchildren, Nicolette, Ivy and Louise; and his siblings, Francis (late Gina), Russell (late Barbara), Frances Dragone (late Joseph), Mary Ann Vella, Catherine Vella and Thomas (late Mary Ann). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Buffalo Historical Society.
