She was predeceased by: her husband Wayne E. Scheffler, Sr.; her son Wayne E. Jr. (Kimberly); her parents, John Sim and Valeria Sim; and her brother John Sim Jr. (Karen).

She is survived by: her sons, David (Sandra) and Dustin Scheffler; her grandchildren, Camden, Tanner, Cooper, Ryder and Haleigh; and her siblings, Susan Raley, Mary Jane Paterniti (David) and Joseph Sim (late Melissa). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the John J Kaczor Funeral Home, Inc. (5453 Southwestern Blvd, Hamburg, NY 14075). A prayer will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 7:15 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Valerie's name to the HEART Animal Rescue.
