He was predeceased by : his mother Virginia Myers; his brother David Spencer; and his aunt Genevieve DeLap. He is survived by : his wife Jacqueline "Jackie" Spencer; his children, Bob Spencer (Ana) and Angie Gemignani; his grandchildren, James Spencer, John Spencer, Veronica Gemignani and Bianca Gemignani; and his cousin Patrick DeLap.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to either the Hammondsport Fire Department or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
