He was predeceased by: his children, Michael Cunningham, Beth Skinner (Kevin) of Dennis Port, MA and Maureen Nelson (Michael) of Westborough, MA; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Cunningham of Canton, MA; and his children, Joseph Burnside (Laurie) of Sayville, NY and Marjorie Burnside of St James, NC..

He is survived by: his family Captree; his pets, Petey, Sam, Buddy, Baby and Sandy; his wife Brigitta Cunningham; his grandchildren, Brianna Coughlan (Tom), Gregory Burnside (Stefanie), Chelsea Burnside, Ryan Somerville (Erica), Dylan, Emma Cunningham, Samantha and Tyler Nelson; and his great grandchildren, Mckenna, Joseph and Patrick Coughlan.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 20th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes (125 W Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY 11801). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 at 11:15 AM at the St. Ignatius Loyola Parish (129 Broadway, Hicksville, NY 11801).
