He is survived by: his wife Bertha Lanier (Thompson); his sons, Matthew Lanier, Jr. (Celeste) and Marcus Lanier; his grandchildren, Noah Lanier, Jackson Lanier, Morgan Lanier, Oliver Lanier and Matthew "Max" Lanier, III; his sisters, Adele Barry and Mederia Hatcher; and his sisters-in-law, Lucinda Lanier, Linda Gooden and Jacqueline Johnson (Caleb). He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rhodes Funeral Homes - Newburgh (18 Lake St, Newburgh, NY 12550). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
