He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallice Brien and Audrey Brien (Webster); his wife Linda; his stepson Eric Erway; and his siblings-in-law, George Curtis and Maryann Brien.

He is survived by: his sons, Richard Brien, Jr. (Danielle), Tim Brien (Theresa) and Wally Brien (Julie); his stepchildren, Robin Moore (Erway), Bertrand Erway and Troy Erway; his grandchildren, Ashley Murray (Brien), Zach Brien, Patrick Brien, Kimberly Welday, Kyle Erway, Kaeyla Erway, Brandon Erway and Nicole Cavadias (Erway); and his siblings, Judy Curtis, Tom Brien, Randy Brien, Ronnie Brien (Sandy), Jeff Brien (Cathy), Gary Brien and Ben Brien. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Albion Rod and Gun Club.
