He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall, Jr. Gates and Martha Gates. He is survived by: his wife Mary Anne; his children, Matthew and Maureen; and his siblings, Catharine MacMillan, Virginia Searl (Rob) and Marshall D. Gates III. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
