He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Gerlt and Lily Gerlt (Felder); his wife Alice Eide of Flushing; and his brothers, Charles Gerlt and Arthur Gerlt.

He is survived by: his children, Elaine Gerlt (Robert Feldhausen) of Brewster, NY, Dianne Arnold (Dennis Arnold) of Holmes, NY, Robert Gerlt of Fairbanks, AK and Carole Sager (John Sager) of Newburgh, NY; and his grandsons, Daniel Arnold, Brandon Arnold and Eric Feldhausen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Beecher Funeral Home (1 Putnam Ave, Brewster, NY 10509). A burial will be held on Thursday, November 12th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Milltown Rural Cemetery (121 Milltown Rd, Brewster, NY 10509).
