He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Thornton and Sarah Wilson Thornton; his wife Mary Lou Stisser Thornton; his granddaughter Ashlynn Rae Thornton; and his siblings, Clair, Paul, Phillip and Gordon Thornton.
He is survived by: his sons, Clair M. Thornton of Homer, Chad J. Thornton (Rachael Stout) of Homer and Charles F. Thornton of Cortland; and his grandson Tydyn Thornton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
