He was predeceased by : his wife Marian T. Swanger (Whalen). He is survived by : his daughters, Debra Swanger (George Ostrander) and Janet Scafetta (Jeff); his grandchildren, Cale (Sharon), Darrell (Aimee), Benjamin Sigas (Katherine Miranda) and Eric Scafetta (Brittany); his great grandchild Teddy Scafetta; and his close friend Walt Bettin (Carol). He is also survived by several brothers, sister and sisters-in-laws.
