He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Sager and Hope Sager (Peters); his son John Sager; and his brother Kenneth Sager. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Sager (Freeman); his children, Richard E. Sager of Cleveland, OH and Ruth Ann Sager of Sidney; and his stepsons, Rick and Dean Wainwright. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
