He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Matheus and Florence Matheus (McCardle); his wife Marilyn Jean Balash Matheus; and his siblings, Walter, Eugene Matheus, Sharon Hoffman, Bonnie Poirier and Rosemary Bradford.
He is survived by: his son Robert "Boomer" Matheus; his grandchildren, Damien Sprague (Amanda), Tobias Matheus and Maddisyn Ferrara; his great grandchildren, Brayden, Chase and Evelynn Sprague; his siblings, Kevin Matheus and Patricia Houghtaling; and his goddaughters, Sherry Houghtaling-Shultis and Marlena Matheus. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. (27 Smith Ave, Kingston, NY 12401). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
