He was predeceased by: his parents, H. Ben Mitchell and Amy Ellingworth Mitchell; his sister Deanna Mitchell; and his granddaughter Ciaya Horning-Cole. He is survived by: his wife Rose "Corky" Mitchell; his children, Greg Mitchell (Cassandra), Tara Mitchell (Jeremy Polley), Bobby Gamble and Leslie Gamble Wood; his grandchildren, Hunter, Sawyer, Slone, Harrison, Marilla Mitchell, CJ Wood, Jerodd, Jacobb and Landonn Gamble; his great grandchildren, Jerodd, Angelynn, Anastasia Gamble, Sebestian and CJ III; and his siblings, Flossie Mitchell, Isaac "Ike" Mitchell (Trish), Amy Mening and Amanda Getner.

Visitation was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home (52 Park St, Pulaski, NY 13142). A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Altmar Hotel Pavillion (6 Mill St, Altmar, NY 13302).
