He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth; his father-in-law Leon Grover Sr.; his wife Estella; his son Danny; and his siblings, Esther Thomas, Betty Grover and Leon Grover Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Victor J. Mettler of Virginia and Debra Mettler of Elmira Heights; his daughter-in-law Susan Mettler of Elmira; his grandchildren, Melissa Mettler (Ernie) of Horseheads, Amanda Dove (Fred) of Elmira and Matthew Ayers (Cassie) of Fleming Island, FL; his great grandchildren, Miranda, Ernie, Kaitlynn, Makayla, Jarred, Alicia, Mason and Westin; and his stepchildren, Albert Hughes Jr. of Syracuse, Geoffrey Hughes of Seneca Falls, Russell Hughes of Trumansburg, Lois Hughes of Horseheads and Virginia Cirillo of Savannah. He is also survived by 11 great great grandchildren.
