It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nicholas M. Kiefer of Ithaca, New York, born in Tucson, Arizona, who passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Margaret Murphy Kiefer (Christopher Kiefer) and Nicholas; his siblings, Christensen and Maxim Kiefer; his sons, Patrick, Gregory and Joseph; his spouse Meral Varis Kiefer; and his son Mark.

In 1986, he was awarded a fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation for "his past achievements and promise of future accomplishments.".
