He was predeceased by: his parents, George L. Benson and Eileen Swanson Benson; his wife Shirley Hagstrom Benson; his siblings-in-law, Doreen Brugge, Marilyn Carlson, Donald Brugge and Robert Carlson; his niece Deborah Gunther (Emil); and his great-niece Lindsey Peterson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kristy Zabrodsky (John) and Tracy Bogdan (Ted); his grandchildren, Abigail Gilbert (Ken), William Bogdan (Hannah), Olivia Zabrodsky (Ryan Gusley) and Rebecca Bogdan (Derek Anderson); his great grandchildren, Flynn Bogdan and Bennett Gilbert; his siblings-in-law, Sandra and Robert Christensen; and his sibling's children, Darlene Peterson (Lee), Marshall Brugge (Amy), David Brugge, Scott Christensen (Elizabeth) and Toby Christensen (Natalie).
