He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Mitchener and James Mitchener; and his granddaughters, Faith Marie Swanson and Samantha Beaver. He is survived by: his siblings, Jim Mitchener (Kristine) of Frewsburg, June Scheira (Pete) of Jamestown, Judy Lindahl (Gary) of Jamestown and Jann LeVine (Mark) of McEwen, TN; his wife Susan Mitchener of Frewsburg; his children, Janelle Swanson of Jamestown, Jessica Beaver (Ryan) of Jamestown, Jocelyn Whalen of Boulder City, NV, Lauren Swanson of Jamestown, Anna Swanson of Truckee, CA and Zachary Swanson (Matt Swanson) of Lake Elsinore, CA; and his grandchildren, Tyler Swanson, Jamie, Ryan Jr., Awsten, Raegon, Mikael Beaver, Anna, James and Jack Whalen.
