He was predeceased by: his parents, Ada Shaw and Regis "Pete" Shaw; his adoptive parents, Lester Shaw and Barbara Shaw; his sister Patricia Parks; his aunt Carlson; and his grandmother Elsa Carlson.

He is survived by: his significant other Rita Ferraloro; his pet Coltrane; and his siblings, Dennis Shaw, Gary Shaw, Carol McCulloch, Ruth Shaw and Regi Shaw.
