He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles B. McDowell and Agnes Margaret McDowell (Jarrell); and his siblings, David, Blaine McDowell, Edwina Kearney and Janet Quicksill.

He is survived by: his wife Gerri Stanton McDowell (Geraldine); his children, Robert W. McDowell, Jr. of Eden Prairie, MN, Marygrace Anderson (Eric) of Jamestown, NY, Brian McDowell (Tracy) of Downingtown, PA and Doug McDowell (Cari) of Fredericksburg, VA; his grandchildren, Beck, Jacob, Olivia Anderson of Jamestown, Max and Grant McDowell of Downingtown, PA; his sisters, Joan Hill of Feasterville, PA and Emily Urban of Newfield, NJ; his nephews, David McDowell of Deltona, FL and Daniel McDowell of Detroit, MI.; and his son Eagle Scouts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
