He was predeceased by: his parents, James Matteo and Florence Matteo; his brother Jack Matteo; and his son-in-law Thomas King. He is survived by: his wife Lois; his daughters, Cheryl Smith (Eric), Kristen Starke (Michael) and Mary Ellen King; and his great grandchildren, Bennett and Josie.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
