He was predeceased by: his parents, Rose Mathias (Sullivan) and Thomas R. Mathias; and his siblings-in-law, William J. III Gorman (late Jane), Thomas Gorman and Catherine Gorman.
He is survived by: his child Erin Uppington (Mathias); his friends, Mike House, Billy Bradshaw and Doug Wilcox; his wife Ann Mathias (Gorman); his children, William "Ned" Mathias and Thomas S. Mathias Jr.; his grandson Aidan; his sisters, Betty Kozak (John), Peggy Klespies (late Ken) and Mary Baldwin (John); his child-in-law Jing Zhang; and his siblings-in-law, Beth Colon (Gerry), Margie Danahy and Paul Gorman (Shannon). He is also survived by many extended family members and long-life friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the James W. Cannan Funeral Home (3155 Orchard Park Rd, Orchard Park, NY 14127). A Mass will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Our Lady of Victory Basilica (767 Ridge Rd, Lackawanna, NY 14218). A burial will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Wounded Warriors Foundation and or the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc.
