He was predeceased by: his son Mark Mayer. He is survived by: his children, Becky Cook (Ken) and Dennis Mayer (Susan); his grandsons, Jason and Emil; his wife Dinah Mayer (Preston); his sister Carol Cutler; and his granddaughters, Emily, Amanda, Julianna and Rachel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Avon, 5605 East Avon Lima Road, PO Box 189 Avon, NY 14414 or the Lima Food Pantry PO Box 556 Lima, NY 14485 in his memory.
