He is survived by: his wife Suzanne; his children, Walter Smith, Jr. (Carolyn) of Las Vegas, Zachary Smith (Julie), Yvonne Sweet (Lloyd), Yvette Jordan (Rick), Wynette Washburn (Mike) and Crey Smith of Cattaraugus; and his sisters, Patricia Auth (John) of Georgia, Joni Wisley of Georgia, Helen Hewett (James) of Buffalo and Evelyn Vossler (Jim) of Buffalo. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
