He was predeceased by: his parents, James Gillin and Rosaire Gillin (Finn); and his brother Jim Gillin. He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Gillin (Podhaisky); his children, Michelle Gillin, Agnes "Mari" Gillin and James Gillin; and his siblings, Terry Gillin (Karla), Maureen McCabe (Richard) and Patricia Johnson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home (21 Big Tree St, Livonia, NY 14487). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Matthews Catholic Church (6591 Richmond Mills Rd, Livonia, NY 14487).
