He was predeceased by: his wife Sara; his parents, L. Elisabeth (Reed) and Leon; and his siblings, Barbara Blum and David VanDerMeid.
He is survived by: his children, Philip VanDerMeid (Lois), Karl VanDerMeid (Laurie), Peter VanDerMeid (Maria), Gretchen VanDerMeid (Keith Daum) and Rebecca Bonn (Bernard); his grandchildren, Kelsey VanDerMeid, Alyssa Baldwin (Michael), Bethany Tice (Jordan), Matthew VanDerMeid, Grace VanDerMeid (Zack Whelan) and Henry Bonn; and his great grandchild Sara. He is also survived by his family, friends and neighbors.
