He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Davis and Lucy Davis (Johnson); and his sister Wanda Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Davis (Hahn); his children, Alicia Carpenter, Edmund Jr. Davis (Kara), Adrian McDonald, Benjamin Davis and Ayla Davis; and his siblings, Leslie, Clifford, Gregory, Rodney, Mark, Douglas Davis, Laura Johnson, Patricia Lewis, Roxanne Davis and Diane Williams (Brad).
