Matheis and Eleanor Matheis (Engasser); his wives, Dianne Matheis (Huntington) and Verna Matheis (DePuy); his children, George Matheis, Jr., Scott Matheis (Kim), Tammie Goodrich (Greg), Cynthia Pickard (Alan) and Shellie Poullott (Dan); and his siblings, John Leising (Diane), Shirley McCanden and Patricia Burkhard (Duane). He was also cherished by twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
