He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Hufnagel and Catherine Hufnagel (Wuebben); his wife Mary Rose Hufnagel (Ben); his sons, David Hufnagel and John Hufnagel; and his siblings, Florence Hufnagel, Elizabeth Ellerbusch (Tom), Rosemary Stevenson (Gerry) and Roman Hufnagel.

He is survived by: his children, Dan Hufnagel (Karen), James Hufnagel (Joan), Janet Blackstone (Eric) and Catherine Nacov (Andre); his daughter-in-law Denise Hufnagel; his grandchildren, David, Laura, Brian, Connor, Daniel and Samantha; and his sister Maryann Simmons. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Cold Springs Cemetery (4849 Cold Springs Rd, Lockport, NY 14094).
