He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, H. Kingsley Murphy and Janella Murphy (Elser); his wife Mary Murphy (Adams); his daughters, Janet Varela (Carlos) of Katy, TX and Ann Elizabeth Brown (Joel) of Frisco, TX; his stepdaughter Erica Colby (Timothy) of North Easton, MA; his grandchildren, Carolina Varela of Alexandria Varela, C. J and Connor Brown; his siblings-in-law, Reg and Cindy Adams; his cousin Bradley Murphy (Darcy); and his siblings, Gary Murphy (Sandra), Dianne Reed (Eugene) and Sandra L. Murphy. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
