He was predeceased by : his parents, John William Peters II and Hazel Palmter Peters; and his wife Corina Peters. He is survived by : his close friend Janet Bushart; his children, Cathleen Couturier (Joseph) of Newark, NY and John Peters (Danielle) of Sodus, NY; and his grandchildren, Emily, Abigail, Silas Couturier, Hailey, Kyliey, Dylan Tyler and Avery Peters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to the American Cancer Society.

“so sorry for your loss. i grew up with john as a childhood neighbor and friend, we attended community college together, 4H group, and he taught me how to play tennis. i haven't seen him in many years , but we kept up with each other on facebook up until March 31st. so sorry to hear of his passing. I truly wish i could be at the funeral on June 10th, but cannot get out of work that day. if there is calling hour please message me on facebook Mark Simpelaar,”
