He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Ann Filby (McGonigle) and George Washington Filby; his brothers, John Andrew Berry and Richard James Berry; and his siblings-in-law, Sadie Berry (Watson) and Alfred Monica.
He is survived by: his sisters, Diane Elizabeth Monica (Filby) and Linda Marie Hughes (Filby); his siblings-in-law, William Michael Hughes Jr. and Christine Berry (Sartori); his siblings' children, John Andrew Berry, James Wallace Berry, Michael Scott Berry, Richard Berry Jr., Erinn Lyn Berry, Alfred George Monica, Elizabeth Jaclyn Monica, John Andrew Monica, George Thomas Monica, Elizabeth Marie Hughes-Phelan and William Michael Hughes III; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jackie Berry, Matthew Berry, Alexa Berry, John Anthony Berry, Tyler Christine Berry, Rocco James Orlandella, Jameson Michael Hughes, Lyla Ema Hughes, Lia Rose Monica, Luna Grace Monica, Saoirse Kathleen Hughes Phelan, Flynn Jack Hughes Phelan and Liam Filby Hughes Phelan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Nassau County Burn Center in George's memory.
