He was predeceased by : his parents, Peter Cairney and Elizabeth Cairney; and his siblings, James, Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia; his children, Peter Cairney (Anna), Patricia Jensen (Joseph) and Kathleen Navas (Steven); and his grandchildren, Joseph, Nicole, Devin, Victoria, Erin, Laurel, Jamie, John, Brendan and Grace.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Fairchild Funeral Chapel (1570 Northern Blvd, Manhasset, NY 11030). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (215-35 38th Ave, Bayside, NY 11361).
