He was predeceased by: his wife Bonnie; his parents, Richard P. and Norma; and his brother Robert. He is survived by: his sons, Richard (Maria), Andrew (Beth), Matthew (Katharine) and Scott (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Ava, Richard IV, Adelle, Anna, Sophia, Emma, Ella, Madelyn, Matthew II, Charlotte, Lauren and Leah; his brother Kenneth (Sandy); and his sister-in-law Sharon Aupperle. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
