He was predeceased by: his parents, John S. Messa, Sr. and Gladys Messa (Kowalczyk); and his daughter Deborah Ann Messa. He is survived by: his wife Genevieve Mandia of Peter's Catholic Church; his children, Jeffrey Messa (Ann Marie), Mark Messa Sr. (Theresa), Michelle Messa and James Messa (Kristin); his grandchildren, Mark Messa Jr. (Carolyn), Anthony Messa, Lauryn Messa and Gavin Messa; his great grandchildren, Madelyn Messa and Mark Messa III; and his pet Bella. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Myslinski, Kowalczyk & Nunn Funeral Directors (470 French Rd, Utica, NY 13502). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Historic Old St. John's Church (240 Bleecker St, Utica, NY 13501).
