Laurence Moats wrote a sympathy message

“Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Matt was such a kind and gentle soul. He was such a great teammate, and we will sorely miss him. Matt was so friendly and caring with everyone. I've never seen him at a game or outside of kickball get angry or raise his voice to anyone. I will always remember him pacing back and forth during our kickball games when he wasn't in the field playing. I will truly miss Matt's sweet smile and gentle soul. Love, Larry Moats and Bruce Stevens.”
