He was predeceased by: his mother-in-law Jane Zutty. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his children, Avery and Dylan; his parents, Janet O'Brien and Tommy O'Brien; his father-in-law Bob; his siblings, Tatum (Vic), Kristin (Steve) and Ryan (Whitney); and his brother-in-law Michael (Chrissy).

After a brave battle with Pancreatic Cancer for 23 months, the family asks in lieu of flowers that a donation be made in honor of Matthew.
