He was predeceased by: his parent Louie Harvey Oakes; his son Gerald Wayne Oakes, Jr.; and his brothers, Harvey, Dar, John and Perry Oakes.
He is survived by: his mother Jean Oakes (Cook); his wife Rose Marie Terrance; his daughters, Connie Oakes (Monserrate Ortiz, III), Chelsea Oakes, Corrin Burns (Roy) and Kelly Jean Burwell (Jonathan); and his siblings, Joan Cook (Charles), Sue Caldwell (Sonny), Sharon Oakes, Daniel Oakes (Delores), Francis Oakes (Kathy), Mike Oakes (Erica), Leslie Oakes and Tom Oakes (Danielle). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Jean Oakes Residence (825 River Rd, Akwesasne, QC H0M1A1). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
