It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sonja Marie Mathews (Mayville, New York), who passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Sonja may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Sonja touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Folke Lindboom and Della Atkins Lindboom; her sister Nora Lee; and her daughter Darlene Marie. She is survived by: her husband Paul H. Mathews; her sons, Michael of Falconer, NY and John; and her brother Arne Lindboom of Lakewood, NY..
Sonja and Paul enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, making many cherished memories together, before Alzheimer's disease impacted her later years.
