Jim Bowman wrote a sympathy message

“I was in the Navy with Louie (that’s what we called him), went through language school, security school, and then in Japan My memories are mostly of our time in Japan. Louie was a typical Swabbie on base, off base he was very quietly respectful. He reacted with the Japanese as if he was a guest in their country. This may seem simple, but it made a lasting impact on me. Прощай мой друг!”

Zachary Cogon wrote a sympathy message

“So sad to hear, I remember him well in the Army Reserve. When I took command of A Company in Bullville, he was working the orderly room and always had a kind word and positive manner. Even made sure my coffee pot was full when I came in for drill (well, less his cup, we had an arrangement :) ). Always honest and hard working, always for the men. God Bless Lou. ~ CPT Zach Cogon (USAR)(Ret).”
