We are sad to announce that on July 9, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Ruth V. Rivers of Middletown, New York, born in Due West, South Carolina. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Monroe and Amelia Callahan (Brownlee); her siblings, James Monroe Callahan, Jr., Sarah Matthews, Jeanette Pearl McCargo (Worthy), Arthur Callahan (Joyce) and Sidney Callahan (Faye); her grandsons, Jordan Jones and Andrew Guenste; her siblings' children, Lynet Valero and Arthur James Callahan; her former husband Nathaniel Rivers; her friend Barbara VanCura; and her pets, Kenny, Cassius and Frenchie.
She is survived by: her children, Cheryl Rivers-Jones (James Sr.), LaVella Simpson, Bernard Rivers (Diane) and Brian Weir; her grandchildren, James Jones Jr., Jerome Manigault, Joseph Rivers (Caitlin), Joshua Simpson, Ryan Guenste, Molly Jane Garcia and Tommy Garcia; her great grandchildren, Jacari Prince Jones, Jace Bernard Rivers and Aurora Ruth Rivers; her sibling's children, Worthy McCargo Jr., Theresa Callahan-Hunter, Sandra Lambert-Watkins and Tracey Franklin (Kevin); and her close friends, Christine DeFreese, Eloise Hickman, Evangelyn Ramsey, Mamie Fleetwood, Jackie Rivers, Charlene Walker and Tracy Crouse.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Inc. Funeral Home (26 Grove St, Middletown, NY 10940). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Otisville-Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church (25 Main St, Otisville, NY 10963). A burial will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Pinelawn Memorial Park (2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735).
