He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dewitt Schauer and Helen Veronica Witkowski. He is survived by: his wife Ana Y. Schauer; his stepsons, Josias and Samuel Marte; his daughters, Eileen DeSimone (Brent) and Michelle Schauer; the mother of his children Cecilia Cumming (Gene); his son Ryan Schauer (Julie); his brother John Schauer; his niece Tanya Schauer; and his nephews, Jason and Johnny Schauer. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
