He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles L. Ashfield and Pearl S. Ashfield (Humiston); his brother Robert; his siblings-in-law, Jane Ashfield, Joseph Boadway and Marjorie Decosse; and his close friend Hugh Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Anne; his sons, Richard (Evelyn) of Rouses Point, Charles (Veronica King) of Burke, Malone and Randy (Kathy) of Chateaugay; and his stepchildren, Robert McDonald (Connie) of Brainardsville, Brian McDonald (Paula) of Brainardsville, Bernadine Martin (Ed) of Merrill, Cheryl LaMore (Lloyd) of Chateaugay and Doreen McDonald of Tupper Lake. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chateaugay Funeral Home (36 Church St, Chateaugay, NY 12920). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Patrick's Church (132 W Main St, Chateaugay, NY 12920).
Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Plattsburgh or the Alzheimer's Association.
