He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Clarence Slating and Margret Slating; his wife Joan Slating; his children, James L. Slating (Sue) of Watertown, NY, Janice Angelo (Mike) of Naples, NY and Joan Rocca of Canandaigua, NY; his stepchildren, Wayne Drake of Syracuse, NY, Jeff Drake of Clyde, NY and Sharon Fox of Naples, NY; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Slating of Ellicottville, NY. He was also cherished by many other nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Naples Volunteer fire Department, or The Trinity Federated Church of Naples NY.
