“My condolences. Mr. Collins was my swim coach at Richmond Hill 1975-1979. He was great coach and a better person. He taught that hard work reaps rewards and it did and man did he work us hard. We fell a little short against Aviation in the Division II championship in 1979. I'm a better person because of him RIP. Roland Dattner”

“I am so sorry for your loss... Jim was one of my best father figures as my Swimming Coach. He took a young man who could barely swim (I almost drowned at my first team tryouts!) only to become a Captain of the team for my last two years at RHHS. In 2016, I set up a reunion dinner for him. He asked to see the teams from 1975, and 1987, and I obliged. It was priceless to see him that night, cherishing that moment. Rest In Peace, Coach Collins! -Clemente Rivera”
